According to The Sun, Leona Lewis was paid £1,000,000 ( $1.4 Mil) for a private concert. The concert was paid for by Phones4U founder John Caudwell (one of the richest men in Britain) for his daughter's 21st birthday.
It's good to know that some people are not affected by the 'recession' and for 'artists' it seems that these private functions are the way to get paid.

The 23-year-old – who sang seven tracks including her No 1 hit
Bleeding Love – took time out from a month-long holiday to take to the
stage at the bash in Staffordshire.
A source said: "It's a hell of a lot of money and was a great party, so it was fun being involved."
A spokesman for Leona confirmed she "did perform at a private event", but said "all details are confidential".
