Kardashian Sister’s Remember Armenian Genocide 1915

All three of the Kardashian sister’s Kim, Khloe & Kourtney took to their blogs to reflect and and shine a spotlight on the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

I know that most of you know we are Armenian.  Our father was full Armenian.  Both of his parents were born in Los Angeles, but our great grandparents came to America just before the Armenian Genocide.  Growing up, my grandmother talked to us about this often and I even did a report on it for my history class.  I find that knowing your heritage is important in knowing yourself.  I just wanted to recognize this day in our history and honor those who died in 1915.

My family and I are extremely proud of our heritage. As a half-Armenian girl growing up, my dad taught me a lot about Armenian culture and I do feel a real connection with my heritage, so today I would like to honor the Armenian people that were killed in 1915 during the Armenian Genocide.

I feel that the Armenian Genocide is somewhat of a taboo subject, and people are uncomfortable talking about it. Well out of respect for all those innocent people that died, I’m putting a spotlight on it today. Today only 21 countries have recognized the killings as a genocide. I wasn’t there, and I know sometimes history books aren’t necessarily 100% correct, but regardless of the term used to label what happened, over a million people died, and that deserves some recognition on this day.

I’m sending out love to my family and friends, to anyone that had friends and relatives affected by the tragedy and to all Armenians who stand proud!

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize those who died in the Armenian Genocide of 1915.  As I’m sure most of you know, my father was Armenian and he always made it a point for us to be aware of where we Kardashians came from.   Over one million people lost their lives and I think it’s so important  to honor this day, as well as my heritage.
