No Judgement Zone: Ladies, Are You Scared to Start Your Business

Lot’s of people have ideas and dreams of starting their own business. That idea that’s going to do for you what you Spanx did for Sara Blakely is inside of you just waiting to burst out.

What’s stopping you from really starting your own business? Is it fear, laziness or feeling like you don’t know where to start?

I recently asked someone I knew, why she didn’t pursue starting her own business since she went on a course at the beginning of the year and was ‘determined’ to ‘figure things out’ to get her dietician consultation business up and running. Since it was three months after course, I thought it was the perfect time to ask. She simply said ‘I’m being lazy’. I thought it was great that she was being honest. The truth is she didn’t want to start her own business and was comfortable being at home more to focus on raising her children and that is OK. I was happy to know that there were no other roadblocks for her other than herself.

However, being lazy and being scared to start your own business are totally different things. I think being scared, can be similar to being overwhelmed and not knowing where to start.
There are so many things to think about from, tax to structure, to marketing and finance. I’m a believer in the thinking that if you get your idea and marketing for your idea organized then everything else is a matter of formalities.

If you have the dream of starting a business in your heart, I want you to realize it and take action! Here are 3 ways to overcome your fear and start taking action to start your business today.

  1. Think about WHY you want to start you business. Your WHY is so important! It’s the most important thing there is when it comes to doing anything, especially starting your business.
  2. Write down your idea (make sure you only focus on one), and list all the ways your idea will make the industry better, the life of your target audience and your life better.
  3. Write down 3 simple actionable goals that can get you in the motion of starting your business. For example ‘Visit competitor websites and make a note of all the things that I like about their product or website’. Note: This isn’t to copy but get inspiration!
